IQ Certification Discount Set to
Expire June 30
FOR RELEASE April, 1998
Contact: Jennifer Burnstein, IQ Program Coordinator
Members of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) and the Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA) who are interested in attaining IQ Certification have only a limited time to qualify for the "first year discount" for certification.
IQ Certification is granted based on an alarm companys completion of the IQ Application for Certification and its adherence to the strict IQ Certification Policies and Guidelines. To obtain IQ Certification, an electronic security and life safety systems company must adhere to the IQ Certification Policies and Guidelines for each and every future monitored installation. The requirements of the program include company guidelines, user training guidelines, employee training guidelines, system design guidelines, equipment guidelines, installation guidelines and monitoring guidelines. Each of the policies and guidelines are specifically tailored to assure maximum quality and false alarm resistance in every new monitored system installed.
The initial IQ Certification fee for non-association members is $1,000 and annual recertification is $500. NBFAA and CANASA members pay a discounted initial certification fee of $500 and a recertification fee of $250. But until June 30, NBFAA and CANASA members pay only $250 for initial certification - 50% off the association member price!
According to IQ Board Chairman David Mandel, "We initially discounted certification for NBFAA members because just by participating in their industry association, alarm companies are contributing to false alarm reduction efforts. So we want to encourage that. Later the IQ Board extended that discounted rate to CANASA members as well. But we also wanted to reward those enterprising alarm companies willing to attain IQ Certification in the first year of the programs existence. So until June 30, 1998, NBFAA and CANASA members who apply for IQ Certification get an additional 50% discount. With the additional discount set to expire on June 30, NBFAA and CANASA members have 250 good reasons to get their IQ applications in to the IQ Board as quickly as possible."
According to the IQ Board, over 500 alarm companies in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Asia have inquired about attaining IQ Certification. Mandel says that many of these companies have been waiting for their contract monitoring company to attain IQ Certification so they could meet the monitoring requirements of the IQ Program, adding "Now that most of the major contract monitoring companies in the United States have attained IQ Certification, this obstacle has been removed."
