IQ Certifies Emergency 24 and Control Security

FOR RELEASE  October, 1997

Contact: Jennifer Burnstein, IQ Program Coordinator

Certifications Open Door for Installation-only Companies to Comply

Bethesda, MD - The Installation Quality (IQ) Certification Board granted IQ Certification to four companies on October 14, including third-party monitoring leaders Emergency 24, Inc. and Control Security.

The IQ Certification Program grants certifications to alarm companies that meet quality and false alarm resistance policies and guidelines. One of the requirements for IQ Certification is that all installed accounts be monitored by an IQ Certified company. For installation companies with a central station, this means that the company simply apply the IQ requirements to the central station as well as the installation side of the business. But for installation-only companies that perform monitoring through a contract central station, this means that their contract monitoring company must attain IQ Certification before they can qualify for certification.

So based on the IQ Certifications granted to date, only those installation-only companies that contract their monitoring with Emergency 24 and Control Security are currently eligible for IQ Certification. According to IQ Certification Board Chairman David Mandel, "For companies who contract with Emergency 24 and Control Security, this not only means that you are eligible for IQ Certification, it also means that you can rest assured that your monitoring company is taking steps to address quality and false alarms."

Mandel added that while several other contract monitoring companies have inquired about IQ Certification, Emergency 24 and Control Security were the first to return qualifying applications. "I encourage every contract monitoring company to apply today. It will be your badge of honor in the fight against false alarms and will include you in the family of dealers addressing quality issues. Most importantly, however, it will be good customer service to those installation-only companies who are looking for IQ Certified contract monitoring services."

The other companies Certified by the IQ Board on October 14 are Security Consultants of Memphis, Tennessee, owned by NBFAA Secretary Cecil Hogan and Action Alarm Systems Corp. of Baltimore, Maryland owned by John Chetelat.
